Casey Krueger became the latest NWSL veteran to make a move thanks to free agency, joining the Washington Spirit on a three-year deal on Wednesday.
The U.S. women’s national team defender comes from the Chicago Red Stars, where she played for nine seasons and was part of the fold during their runs to the 2019 and 2021 NWSL Championships, when they finished runners-up. She moves to the nation’s capital during an exciting period — a day earlier, the Spirit announced the hire of outgoing Barcelona coach Jonatan Giraldez.
