Novak Djokovic has issued a statement explaining why the decision to close the Novak Tennis Center in Belgrade was made. This week, it was announced that Djokovic was closing the Novak Tennis Center and returning the land to the city of Belgrade.
During the 15 years of the Novak Tennis Center existence, a total of seven ATP and one WTA tournament were held. Also, the location hosted other lower-tier tournaments. In a statement published on Telegraf, Djokovic expressed gratitude to the city of Belgrade and everyone who positively impacted the Novak Tennis Center.
Also, Djokovic hinted his team will now focus on new projects.

“The company Tara 2016 S, owned by Novak and Jelena Djokovic, made a decision to return the land and facilities within the Tennis Center Novak in Dorcol to the City of Belgrade.
We considered it for a long time and made the not-so-easy decision to stop working and managing the land, facilities and overseeing the tennis oasis after more than ten years. It is with great gratitude that we return the land to the City of Belgrade.
