No. 1 South Carolina prevailed Sunday in a battle of Division I college basketball’s last undefeated teams, trouncing No. 3 LSU 88-64 at Colonial Life Arena. Here’s what you need to know:

The Gamecocks couldn’t have asked for a better start. They shot 63 percent in the first quarter, mounting a 24-15 lead after 10 minutes. LSU, which hadn’t trailed by more than 12 this season, had a hard time playing from behind, especially after Reese and LaDazhia Williams got into some early foul trouble.
