Jean Paul Gaultier remains in the midst of his new couture strategy, which involves the fashion legend welcoming a guest designer to craft his couture creations in his honor. It all came to fruition with the Fall 2021 season and a whole plethora of jaw-dropping collections by Chitose Abe, Glenn Martens, Olivier Rousteing, Haider Ackermann, Julien Dossena and Simone Rocha have since followed.
JPG’s latest catch is Nicolas Di Felice, who Gaultier tapped to design his Fall 2024 couture collection. The Belgian designer is the current creative director of Courrèges, and has been at the helm of the French fashion label since 2020. Prior to landing the top job at Courrèges, Di Felice was on the team of Nicolas Ghesquière at Balenciaga in 2008, after graduating from La Cambre, and remained at Balenciaga under Ghesquière for six years. Following a brief stint at Christian Dior under Raf Simons, Di Felice was reunited with Ghesquière at Louis Vuitton in 2015, where he remained until 2020.
The highly-anticipated Jean Paul Gaultier x Nicolas Di Felice collection is set to be unveiled in June, as part of the Haute Couture Paris Fashion Week Fall 2024 schedule. To say we cannot wait would be an understatement.
