Nick Kyrgios details what would have changed had he won 2022 Wimbledon title

Nick Kyrgios says losing the 2022 Wimbledon final “sucked” in the sense that he knows everyone would be viewing him differently had he managed to beat Novak Djokovic and put his name on the list of Grand Slam champions.

Two years ago, Kyrgios was playing the tennis of his life when he made his first Grand Slam singles final at Wimbledon. And despite facing one of the most difficult tasks in tennis – playing Djokovic at Wimbledon – Kyrgios came out playing courageously but it was the Serb who won in four sets 4-6 6-3 6-4 7-6 (3).

Now in the latest episode of his podcast, Kyrgios hosted coach Patrick Mouratoglou and there was something he wanted to ask Serena Williams’ ex-coach. 

Mouratoglou to Kyrgios: Had you won that Wimbledon title…

“In that Wimbledon final with Novak, back in 2022. You said two points can change a match. Do you think if I had won that, the whole narrative would have changed on this?” Kyrgios asked Mouratoglou on Good Trouble with Nick Kyrgios.

“For sure, you would be a Grand Slam winner. No one would say you are wasting your talent. And we’re just talking about one match,” Mouratoglou answered.
