Nick Kyrgios highlighted Serena Williams is one of the greatest of all time and also recounted the American tennis icon being “very bossy on the court” when they teamed up for mixed doubles. In 2014, a 19-year-old Kyrgios got a chance to play mixed doubles with Williams at the International Premier Tennis League.
At the time, Kyrgios was a rising star while Williams was widely considered one of the greatest champions in tennis history. “Serena Williams, arguably in the GOAT conversation as well, probably right there. I played mixed doubles with her.
She was very bossy on the court. I mean confident and I had to listen to her,” Kyrgios said while touring Tennis Channel’s Hall of Champs area. Kyrgios also dropped major praise on fellow Australian Ashleigh Barty calling her “a legend” and “an icon.” Barty, a former three-time Grand Slam champion and world No 1, shockingly retired from pro tennis at the age of 25 in 2022 March. “Ash Barty, one of Australia’s tennis legends.
Icon. Everyone looks up to her back home. Legend,” Kyrgios said.
