NFL legend Aaron Donald agrees, Steelers T.J. Watt should have won more DPOYs

Recently retired Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald, a Pittsburgh native, can make a very strong argument to be not just his generation’s best player, but the best defensive player in the history of the NFL. Many would be wise to listen to the opinions of such an accomplished athletes when it comes to his peers in terms of dominance in the league. 

Naturally, Steelers fans will be excited to learn that, like themselves, Donald feels Steelers edge rusher T.J. Watt might have less hardware from the league than he’s earned to this point in his career. 

In an interview posted on the Rams web site, Donald’s wife, Erica Donald, sat down with the three-time NFL defensive player of the year winner and talked about his career and legacy. 

The most notable part, in our not-so-humble opinion, starts at the 1:03.36 mark, when Donald was asked who he thought might be the next Aaron Donald. 

“Maybe not the next Aaron Donald, but I would say T.J. Watt,” Donald said. “He’s a guy that’s consistently been doing it every single year. He’s a guy that’s going to consistently get 15 sacks for you, 20 (tackles-for-loss), probably two interceptions, probably a touchdown for sure…
