Nelly Korda wins Mizuho Americas Open, captures sixth title in last 7 LPGA Tour starts

Nelly Korda’s run of dominance continues. After Rose Zhang ended Korda’s streak of consecutive LPGA tournament titles at five last week, Korda rebounded this week to win the Mizuho Americas Open at Liberty National on Sunday and capture her sixth win in her last seven starts.

With the victory, the 25-year-old from Bradenton, Fla., became the first player to win six or more tournaments in a season since South Korea’s Inbee Park in 2013. She’s the eighth player since 1980 to accomplish the feat, joining Betsy King, Annika Sorenstam, Karrie Webb, Lorena Ochoa, Beth Daniel, Yani Tseng and Park.

On Sunday, it came down to the last hole. Korda, the current top-ranked women’s player, entered the final round with a two-shot lead over Australia’s Hannah Green. After a rocky front nine, in which she bogeyed three times, Korda birdied the 10th, 13th and 15th holes. Green’s scorecard matched on those holes, and the two entered the 18th tied at 14-under, but a final bogey ultimately sunk Green as Korda finished the round with a one-stroke lead at 1-under 71.
