All three Big 12 teams—Texas, Baylor and Kansas State—that have consistently been in the top 25 have continued to rise in the rankings. Let’s check on how each team is doing before conference play kicks off later this month.
No. 5 Texas Longhorns (10-0)
Texas was put to the test versus UConn and rose to the challenge, beating the Huskies 80-68. Rori Harmon and Madison Booker went off, scoring a combined 47 points. The Longhorns have yet to lose and are now a top-five team in the nation. Their next game is against Arizona, but their toughest challenge on the horizon—a matchup versus Baylor on Dec. 30.
No. 10 Baylor Lady Bears (7-0)
Speaking of Baylor, the Lady Bears are matching Texas, staying undefeated. They’re currently 7-0 and in the top ten in the AP rankings. Dre’Una Edwards continues to be a certified bucket for Baylor, leading the team with 13.7 points a game. Guard Aijha Blackwell leads the team in rebounding, pulling 7.4 boards a night.
Baylor’s depth has allowed them to perform in non-conference play; they have another date with a top-25 team this Saturday against No. 24 Miami.
