The Frozen Four of the 2025 NCAA women’s hockey tournament is set, with the top four seeds moving on to play for the national championship.
Wisconsin, the No. 1 overall seed, entered the tournament with a gaudy 35-1-2 record, with the lone loss coming by one goal at Ohio State in mid-November. The Badgers defeated Clarkson 4-1 in their regional final, while the Buckeyes, who are the defending national champions and the No. 2 overall seed, rolled over St. Lawrence 6-1 to advance to the national semifinals.
If the Badgers and Buckeyes both make it to the title game, it will mark the third consecutive year they’ll meet in the final. The teams have traded the national championship the past four seasons, with Wisconsin winning it in 2023 and 2021 and Ohio State reigning in 2024 and 2022.
But they both will face stiff tests to get there. Wisconsin will meet No. 4 seed Minnesota, a 3-2 winner over Colgate, on the Gophers’ home rink, while Ohio State faces No. 3 Cornell, which blanked Minnesota Duluth 1-0
The Frozen Four will be held at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis on March 21 and 23.
