This should be an interesting one.
The 2023 NCAA volleyball season has been topped by the typical suspects: Nebraska, Wisconsin and Stanford. The Huskers, who are poised to earn the No. 1 overall seed, nearly accomplished an undefeated regular season before being swept by the Badgers during their final road trip. Nevertheless, they will be the favorites to take it all home even with four starting freshmen.
The most pressure of all teams in the tournament still goes to Texas, the defending champions. The Longhorns are not the favorites this time around, with new starters in the roster, but that doesn’t mean they’re not contenders for the title. Texas is one of the winningest programs in history for a reason.
Still, surprises and upsets should be expected. Teams like Arizona State and Dayton are eying deep runs after missing out on the tournament last year. Both are ranked in the AVCA poll and are ready to dance.
