One more meet, and the 2024 NCAA gymnastics season is over. Who would’ve thought it’d look like this?
For the first time since 2012, Oklahoma will not compete for a title. The two-time defending champions had one of its worst scores in program history during the semifinals, in which it counted three falls between beam and vault. While it was a shocking result, it means that NCAA gymnastics will have a new national champion for the first time in nine years.
LSU, Cal, Florida and Utah take the floor (and vault, and bars, and beam) for the final time Saturday. Only one program can wear the crown. Utah and Florida have been this close the past few years, as the Gators finished second two years in a row and the Red Rocks third for three straight finals. LSU are the favorites but Cal is close behind, even if this is its first finals appearance in program history.
Anything can happen in Fort Worth.
