NASCAR driver Cody Ware was arrested and charged Friday with two additional misdemeanors stemming from an alleged domestic assault incident that led to him being arrested and charged earlier this week, the Iredell County (N.C.) Sheriff’s Office confirmed to The Athletic.

On Friday, Ware was charged with assault — inflict serious injury — and issued a criminal summons for communicating threats. This follows Ware, 27, being charged on April 10 with felony assault by strangulation — inflict serious injury — and misdemeanor assault on a female.

Ware was in custody as of Friday afternoon, the sheriff’s office confirmed. He is due in court Monday for the charges issued against him Friday. His court date for the original charges is May 1.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation is still ongoing.

Ware was arrested on Monday for an incident that occurred at a residence in Mooresville, N.C. No weapons were involved in the incident, according to a police report obtained by The Athletic. Due to this incident involving alleged domestic violence, exact details of the incident have not been disclosed publicly.
