NASCAR driver Cody Ware was arrested and charged Monday with felony assault by strangulation — inflict serious injury — and misdemeanor assault on a female, according to the Iredell County (N.C.) Sheriff’s Office website.

On Monday, NASCAR announced that Cody Ware had been suspended indefinitely but did not provide further comment.
Later Monday afternoon, Rick Ware Racing released a statement saying they are aware of the incident and accept NASCAR’s decision.
“The matter is still under investigation and Cody is fully cooperating with the authorities, as due process takes its course.
