Naomi Osaka is set to commence the 2024 season at the Brisbane International, marking her first tournament since Tokyo in September 2022 and since embracing motherhood.
“Back on court and back in Brisbane!” the December 31 – January 7 tournament wrote on social media. The four-time Grand Slam champion, Osaka, created a stir when she unexpectedly withdrew from the 2023 Australian Open, later disclosing her pregnancy. Now, the 26-year-old eagerly anticipates her return to competition, expressing her excitement by stating, “The Brisbane International is such a great tournament and will set me up for a brilliant comeback this summer.”
The two-time Australian Open champion, Osaka, is slated to compete in the Grand Slam event beginning on January 14th. Notably, this marks her return to Melbourne Park after her last appearance ended with a third-round defeat to Amanda Anisimova in 2022.
In July, the former WTA No.1 welcomed her first child, a daughter named Shai.
