Naomi Osaka may not have played a single match this year but she is still the fifth highest-paid female athlete in 2023. According to Sportico, four-time Grand Slam champion Osaka earned $15 million this year. Osaka, a former world No 1, didn’t compete in any tournaments this year after announcing her pregnancy in early 2023 and then giving birth in the summer.
Still, Osaka netted $15 million through various sponsorship and endorsement deals. On the list, Osaka is the fifth highest-paid female athlete of 2023 and also the fourth highest-paid tennis player in 2023.
Coco Gauff — at just 19 years old — is now the world’s highest paid female athlete, earning $22.7 million last year.
Seven out of the top ten were tennis players.
