Muguruza doesn’t think about return: “Tennis has no place in my routine.”

In April, Garbine Muguruza announced an extended break from tennis to enjoy her private life. At the time, we knew that she would miss Roland Garros and Wimbledon. We’re in mid-October now and the two-time Grand Slam champion still doesn’t plan to return to competition.

The former world No.1 Muguruza played her last match at the January 30 – February 5 WTA 250 event in Lyon, where she lost in the first round to qualifier Linda Noskova. In May, she got engaged to Arthur Borges. Indulging in leisure activities she didn’t have time for while on Tour, Muguruza revealed to Spanish Women’s Health magazine during a zumba event in Malaga that return to tennis is not on her mind at all:

As of today I have no intention. My plan right now is to sleep, rest, be with my loved ones, make up for lost time… I don’t see beyond what I’m doing today, tomorrow and this week.

This long break is something that Muguruza’s body and mind craved, so she’s fully enjoying these moments. She does work out regularly, from weight training in the gym, to pilates, yoga, boxing, zumba, etc. As for tennis, it has taken a backseat. The 30-year-old Muguruza explains:
