UNLV eyes its third consecutive Mountain West tournament title at the 2024 Mountain West women’s basketball tournament, which begins on Sunday, March 10.
The 23rd-ranked Rebels (27-2, 17-1 MW) enter the game riding a 12-game winning streak, with their only conference loss occurring back on Jan. 20 against New Mexico. UNLV is the No. 1 seed for the third consecutive tournament, and it has dropped just four conference games — including in tournament play — in the last three seasons.
The dominance is spurred in part by senior center Desi-Rae Young, who is averaging a career-best 18.6 points per game, to go along with 9.0 rebounds.
A cluster of formidable teams loom on the Rebels’ tail, hoping to end UNLV’s reign atop the conference. The Lobos, one of two teams to defeat UNLV this season, finished in second place. Wyoming and Colorado State — UNLV opponents in the last two Mountain West tournament championship games — are among those to finish above .500.
