Missouri Director of Athletics Laird Veatch announced that head gymnastics coach Shannon Welker’s contract was extended through 2029.
Welker is entering his eleventh season as head coach of the Tigers. The team has seen major success in recent years, including making it to nationals as a team in 2022. 2024 was the fourth consecutive season in which the Tigers made a regional final.
The Tigers were ranked ninth in the 2025 preseason coaches poll. This season will see the debuts of four transfer athletes and a freshman class containing multiple former five-star recruits in Railey Jackson and Olivia Kelly.
