Mirra Andreeva says she is preparing for a new day against Iga Swiatek as she doesn’t think that her win over the Pole in Dubai will have any impact on their upcoming Indian Wells semifinal match.
Three weeks ago, the 17-year-old routed the five-time Grand Slam champion 6-3 6-3 in the quarterfinal of the WTA 1000 tournament in Dubai. During that match, the Russian claimed two breaks in each set and pretty much dominated the world No. 2.
After Andreeva beat Elina Svitolina and Swiatek overcame Zheng Qinwen, the two set up a rematch in Indian Wells. Since their last meeting, the 17-year-old became a WTA 1000 champion in Dubai and is currently riding a 10-match winning streak. Considering the rising star’s form, some even have her as the favorite against the former world No. 1.

“It doesn’t give me any benefit to our match tomorrow, because what happened happened, and the past is in the past. Tomorrow is going to be a new day, new match, new conditions, new country. Everything is different,” the world No. 9 said.
