In another important roster move for NJ/NY Gotham FC, the club announced on Monday that Margaret “Midge” Purce had signed a new multi-year contract with the club though 2024 with a mutual option for the 2025 National Women’s Soccer League season. The star striker was initially contracted through 2023.
“I’m excited to be a part of the vision to build Gotham into one of the greatest clubs in the world,” said Purce.
Purce has been pivotal to Gotham’s success since she arrived at the club via a trade with the Portland Thorns in 2020. In 2021, she led Gotham in scoring with nine goals, finishing second in the NWSL Golden Boot race. That same year, she was a finalized for the NWSL MVP award and named to the NWSL Best XI. Last season, she scored three goals and notched three assists in 16 appearances. For the U.S. Women’s National Team, she has scored four goals and notched three assists in 23 matches since her debut in 2019.
