The Phoenix Mercury are making moves this offseason, trading Diamond DeShields to the Dallas Wings, according to ESPN’s Andraya Carter.
DeShields was reportedly informed of the deal on Thursday, although it is not yet completed. It’s unclear what the Mercury would get in return. In conjunction with that report, Winsidr’s Rachel Galligan reported that the trade would include four teams, and send Marina Mabrey to the Chicago Sky.
Final terms for each team are reportedly still being finalized.
DeShields joined Phoenix last offseason in a trade with the Chicago Sky, who drafted her third overall in the 2018 WNBA Draft.
She later opened up about a tumor diagnosis she received in 2019, and how she had to have surgery to remove the tumor. Telling ESPN’s Holly Rowe about the diagnosis, she detailed the recovery process as well as the journey to winning a WNBA championship with the Sky.
DeShields says that she considered retirement during the ordeal, which included overcoming full-body tremors and learning how to walk again.
The guard played in 30 games last season, averaging 13.1 points and 3.8 rebounds per game.
