Men’s and women’s teams in Final Four: NC State becomes latest school to pull the March Madness double

It’s not often college basketball fanbases get treated to two Final Four basketball games in the same year. After all, the postseason is called, “March Madness” for a reason.

But in the long history of postseason basketball, there have been a few, rare instances in which the same school has had a men’s and women’s team reach the Final Four in each of their respective brackets. 

In 2024, NC State became the latest team to accomplish the feat, and they did so the hard way. The Wolfpack men’s team came in as the No. 11 seed in the tournament while the women’s team took down No. 1 Texas in the Elite Eight to punch its ticket to the Final Four.

There’s a chance the list will grow on Monday when the UConn women’s basketball team faces No. 1 USC in the Elite Eight with a chance to join the men’s team as matching Final Four squads.
