Mary Earps signs for PSG following Manchester United exit

Date:

England goalkeeper Mary Earps has joined Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer following her exit from Manchester United.

Earps has signed a two-year contract with PSG after her United departure was confirmed on Saturday. The Athletic previously reported that the 31-year-old was considering an attractive offer from PSG with her United contract expiring at the end of last month.

Earps flew to Paris on Friday to undergo a medical, sign her contract and film promotional content with her new club. The decision to leave United and sign for PSG was a tough one and only made late last week.

“Joining Paris Saint-Germain is a fantastic opportunity,” Earps said on her new club. “I’m very honoured to become a Parisian and I can’t wait to play alongside my new team-mates.

“Together, we’re going to give our all to help the club shine and make our fans proud. I’m determined to contribute to our future success so that Paris Saint-Germain continues to rank among Europe’s top clubs.”

In a message to supporters upon leaving United, Earps said it was “the right time to make a change and embark on a new challenge” with the club “about to undergo a period of transition”.
