Diana Shnaider was shocked in the second round of the Hungarian Grand Prix on Thursday. Maria Timofeeva needed just 57 minutes to pocket a 6-1, 6-1 win over the 19-year-old.Timofeeva won 72% of her first-serve points and 50% of her second-serve points.

She also won 67% and 87% points on return on Shnaider’s first serve and second serve respectively. The 19-year-old, ranked 246th in the world, also came up with a positive differential of eight with the 18 winners and 10 unforced errors she made.This is the first time in her career that Timofeeva’s reached the quarter-finals of a WTA event.

In fact, this is the first season in which she’s played on the main WTA tour. This week in the Hungarian capital, Timofeeva lost in the second round of qualifying to Czech Anna Siskova but made her way into the main draw as a lucky loser.Next, looking to keep her good streak going, Timofeeva will play Kaja Juvan in the quarters.
