Maria Sharapova has indicated strongly that she is very unlikely to return to pro tennis ever again. Sharapova, a former five-time Grand Slam champion and world No 1, put the curtain on her pro tennis career after the 2020 Australian Open.
In the summer of 2022, Sharapova became a mother for the first time when she and her fiance Alexander Gilkes welcomed their first child, a baby boy Theodore. In recent years, there have been several cases of a WTA player making a strong post-pregnancy comeback to tennis.
Sharapova, who turned 36 in April, was asked if she could do something similar. “I don’t know how they do it, I don’t see that in my future,” Sharapova said on The Rennae Stubbs Tennis Podcast.
