Greek tennis star Maria Sakkari has added Mark Philippoussis to her coaching staff after the 2003 Wimbledon runner-up split with Stefanos Tsitsipas, per Craig Shapiro. Last summer, Philippoussis started working with Tsitsipas and their partnership came to an end just before the start of this year’s French Open.
But Philippoussis didn’t have to wait for too long for another gig as he is now working with the top-ranked Greek female tennis player. Before and after splitting with Philippoussis, Tsitsipas spoke only positive things about the 2003 Wimbledon finalist.
That may have played a role in Sakkari – who has a good relationship with Tsitsipas – hiring Philippoussis. Also, Sakkari is still working with her long-time coach Tom Hill.
