Notre Dame head coach Marcus Freeman has turned a lot of heads in a short amount of time. He took over as the head man for the Fighting Irish in 2021 after serving as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach.
Freeman was an interim coach for the 2021 Fiest Bowl after Brian Kelley left for LSU, and he was given the full-time job in the offseason, much to the delight of the team. Since he took over, Notre Dame has gone 33-9, including 14-1 this year. Freeman has the Fighting Irish back in the title game for the first time since the 2013 BCS National Championship Game.
He became the first Black and Asian American head coach to lead a team to the College Football Playoff National Championship, where he and Notre Dame will face Ohio State on Monday, Jan. 20.
Here is everything you need to know about Freeman’s family tree.
