It’s a busy time for Indianapolis. First the NBA all-star game, then Caitlin Clark’s WNBA Draft announcement, which nearly guarantees she’ll be the No. 1 pick by the Fever. Now, the city will host the first two rounds of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament.
Few cities deserve as much basketball as Indianapolis. Though locals probably are hoping this March Madness goes a lot differently for the Boilermakers than it did last year. On the bright side, Farleigh Dickinson’s upset of top-seeded Purdue was one of college basketball’s greatest Cinderella stories ever. Too soon?
If all goes according to plan, Zach Edey and Purdue will get the chance to make a deep NCAA tournament run on (basically) home court. Maybe it won’t end in a loss to a private, New Jersey-based school this time.
