Manchester United to work with Norman Whiteside on new seat after criticism over relocation

Manchester United insist they will work with Norman Whiteside to find him a new seat at Old Trafford after the former player’s wife branded the decision to move him an “absolute disgrace”.

Whiteside, a legendary figure at the club as the youngest player to score in both FA Cup and League Cup finals, has held his United season ticket for more than 25 years, meaning his name is on a silver plaque on his seat.

But he has been told he will have to move location for next season as United restructure hospitality areas at the stadium and aim to accommodate current players’ families. Several season ticket holders in section S122, which is in the Sir Bobby Charlton Stand to the right of the tunnel, have been informed they will need to relocate, causing upset for several.

Whiteside’s wife Dee wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: “So, it doesn’t matter how long you’ve been a loyal supporter, doesn’t matter if you played for your club, @ManUtd can just dump you from your seat when they feel like it, so they can expand exec seating! Absolute disgrace!”
