Manchester United have March deadline to trigger Marc Skinner contract option

Date:

Manchester United have until the end of March to activate the option to extend head coach Marc Skinner’s contract by a further season.

The 41-year-old signed a one-year contract extension with an option for an additional year in May. The deadline to trigger that option is at the end of this month.

United would still be able to re-negotiate a new deal with Skinner following the deadline if they wish. As it stands his current deal will expire at the end of the season but a club spokesperson said positive discussions are ongoing.

The club decision will come as United continue a great run of form. They sit second in the Women’s Super League (WSL) and have won their last seven WSL games, including all five in 2025, their best winning start to a calendar year in the top flight.

United have already surpassed their total points tally from last season when they finished a disappointing fifth, 20 points off winners Chelsea and 15 points adrift of Champions League qualification. Skinner did guide his team to a second consecutive FA Cup final and won the women’s team’s first major trophy.
