Man City’s Khiara Keating denies charges of drug possession

Manchester City and England goalkeeper Khiara Keating has denied charges of possession of nitrous oxide, a class C drug, after appearing in court on Tuesday.

The 20-year-old was arrested last month and entered a “not guilty” plea at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court alongside her mother, Nicola, who was facing the same offence.

Both were granted unconditional bail ahead of a further hearing to fix a trail date at the same court on Sept.10.

A statement from Greater Manchester police said: “Khiara Keating [27/06/2004] from Manchester has been charged with possession of class C drugs [Nitrous Oxide]. She will appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 23 July.

“These charges relate to an incident which took place on Tuesday 18 June on Queens Road.”

Man City declined to comment on the charges.

Keating became the youngest player to win the Women’s Super League (WSL) Golden Glove last season after she kept nine clean sheets in 22 league games for City, who finished second in the WSL last term.

She received her first Lionesses call-up in October and was part of manager
