Mallory Swanson is staying in Chicago for four more years.
The Red Stars signed Swanson to a long-term contract, calling it “the most lucrative agreement in the history of the National Women’s Soccer League,” but did not disclose the financial terms of the deal. CBS Sports reports the deal includes a fifth-year option, with the deal potentially being worth close to $2 million at over $400,000 per year.
Swanson’s deal would surpass Houston Dash forward María Sánchez’s $1.5 million, three-year contract signed in December.
“I am excited to be back with the Red Stars,” Swanson said in a statement. “These last few years have been such a blessing in Chicago, even with the ups and downs, and I can’t wait to be back. I am looking forward to getting to work and helping the team win championships. See everyone soon!”

The Athletic reported last month that Swanson, a free agent, would stay with the Red Stars and had been in contract discussions with the club. Swanson joined Chicago in 2021 and has led the team in goals scored (18) and assists (10) in 51 appearances.
