Major winner Garbine Muguruza Bids Adieu to WTA Ranking list! Is it for good?

A two-time Major champion and former world no. 1 Garbine Muguruza dropped out from the WTA ranking list for the first time since 2009! The Spaniard played her last match on January 30 last year, navigating a challenging start to the season after losing all four matches.

Opting for a hiatus from professional tennis after dedicating over 25 years to the sport, Muguruza felt the need to rejuvenate herself, seeking solace in the company of family and friends. Embracing life without the intense pressure of competition, the Roland Garros and Wimbledon champion found joy and fulfillment beyond the tennis court.

Garbine is currently on an indefinite break, not entertaining thoughts of a comeback.

Initially contemplating a return in 2024, Muguruza shifted gears, deciding to exclude tennis from her daily routine.
