Minnesota Lynx forward Diamond Miller will be sidelined with a right ankle sprain, the team announced Friday. Here’s what you need to know:
- Miller sustained the injury late in the second quarter of Minnesota’s 94-89 loss to the Dallas Wings on Tuesday.
- The team said that Miller “will be re-evaluated in the following weeks” and that “further updates will be issued when available.”
- Through her first five WNBA games, Miller averaged 10.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.2 assists. The Lynx selected the former Maryland star with the second pick in the 2023 draft.

Evaluating Miller’s season so far
Having only appeared in five games thus far, Miller has already shown flashes of why she was the No. 2 pick. She’s been among the most critical players to Minnesota’s offense, with the third-highest usage rate of any player on the roster. And just like at Maryland, Miller has been an aggressive driver to the basket, averaging more points in the paint than other guards around the WNBA like Chelsea Gray, Diana Taurasi and Tiffany Hayes.
