A luxury Paris restaurant called out by Serena Williams has responded to the American tennis icon’s claims, saying they were “fully booked” on Monday when the former 23-time Grand Slam champion came to their rooftop bar for lunch.
Williams, who has been in Paris for the last 10 days for the Olympics, sent out a social media post on Monday that quickly received lots of attention. In a post published on X, the former three-time French Open champion said she and her kids were turned away after she tried to enter “an empty” restaurant called The Peninsula Paris.
In her post, Williams posted a photo of The Peninsula Paris and directly tagged them so no one could wrongly guess the restaurant in question.
“Yikes @peninsulaparis I’ve been denied access to rooftop to eat in a empty restaurant of nicer places but never with my kids. Always a first. #Olympic2024,” Williams wrote on X and also included a melting face and rolling eyes emojis to her post.
