The lives of student-athletes have completely changed since the NCAA adopted a new NIL (name, image and likeness) policy in 2021. Decades of pressure allowed some of the best athletes in the college sports world to finally sign lucrative NIL deals.

Nike, Cash App and Celsius are among the many major brands that have offered NIL deals to college and even some high school athletes. One school that has benefited greatly from the NIL era is LSU.

The university was featured in several magazines at the height of the NIL boom, thanks in large part to its athletes with massive followings on social media like gymnast Livvy Dunne and current WNBA star Angel Reese. The skyrocketing fame of LSU athletes and NIL’s impact on college sports in general will be the focus point of “The Money Game,” a new docuseries from Prime Video.
