Huge congratulations to Tigist Assefa who takes the win in the London Marathon 2025 with a women’s only course record. Second place went to Joyciline Jepkosgei and third to Sifan Hassan.
The race started smoothly, under misty blue skies at Greenwich Park. There were plenty of relaxed sunny smiles and waves from Eilish McColgan and Sifan Hassan, as Olympic gold medallist and president of the Commonwealth Games Dame Denise Lewis pressed the button to set them off.

Best women’s field ever?
There’s been a lot of excitement in the build-up to London Marathon 2025, particularly in the women’s field.
While three of the elite women were committing to times of 2:15, Eilish was setting her sights on 2:26:40 which would mean a Scottish record and beating her mum’s record.
