The Collegiate Quad meets wrap up tonight as underdogs from the Big Ten, Pac-12, Mountain West, and ACC take the floor. California and Michigan State will both factor in their conference championship races as well as be on the nationals bubble this year, while N.C. State and BYU are hoping to return to regionals.
While neither team was at their best, with beam and floor errors diluting their team scores, the Golden Bears and Spartans both had individuals shine in Week 1. Mya Lauzon’s 39.600 in the all around topped California’s Super 16 session ahead of some impressive names, while Michigan State’s Sage Kellerman stuck her front handspring pike half to hit perfection for the first time in her career and notch the first 10.0 on vault of 2024.
The Wolfpack and Cougars have individual standouts, too. BYU fifth-year Anyssa Alvarado upped her career-high on bars to a 9.950 to start her year, while Chloe Negrete also used her wealth of experience to lead N.C. State with a 9.900 on beam and 9.875 on vault.
