The Nittany Lions head to the Banks to take on a Scarlet Knights squad that has been steadily improving each meet so far this season. Avery Balser’s bar set is can’t-miss, as is Emily Leese on floor. Bars has been a particular struggle through the first three weeks, but a shuffled lineup at Maryland in week three seemed to do the trick. The test will be to replicate that hit.
For Penn State, it’s been a bit of a January rollercoaster, but this squad is capable of a mid-196, a number it put up at home versus Iowa State. Freshman all-arounder Kalea McElligot is really settling in, and Gabbie Gallentine was back on bars last week after missing the first two. Both are good signs for a team that just needs to find a little consistency to make a big rankings push.
Rutgers’ best day can challenge Penn State when it’s having an off performance, so the Nittany Lions should be wary of opening the door. Remember, win-loss matters in the Big Ten for conference championship seeding.
