After a stellar opening three weeks to its season, LSU will hope to keep this momentum going throughout the season. Last week, the Tigers defeated the Kentucky Wildcats by .525 with a 198.125 clinched by a perfect 10 by Kiya Johnson on the floor. Multiple tens were thrown at this meet with a 10 from Haleigh Bryant on bars and a 9.975 on vault also from Bryant. The Tigers were able to finally put it together on beam scoring a 49.425 and not counting a score below 9.850. Although this was their lowest event score of the night, it is still a massive score that the Tigers will hope to build upon throughout the season. Other notable numbers include a 9.950 from KJ Johnson and Bryant on floor, a 9.925 from McClain’s floor debut, and a pair of 9.925 from Schoenherr on vault and bars.
The other Tigers in the SEC also had a successful weekend defeating the Georgia Bulldogs with a 197.400 last weekend. The Tigers put up good event scores in the 49.400+ range on beam and floor with vault not too far behind. If Missouri does have a weakness, it is on the bars where the team struggled to break into the 9.9 range until transfer Mara Titarsolej broke the Missouri bar record with a 9.975.
