LIVE BLOG: No. 22 Iowa State and No. 50 SEMO at No. 9 Denver

Happy meet day and happy Super Bowl Sunday! Before the Super Bowl festivities begin, I’m here in Magness Arena at Denver’s tri meet against Iowa State and SEMO. 

Denver scored only its second 198 in program history last week against Towson, and the Pioneers are looking for another big number today. Bars was an especially big event for Denver last week, with 9.975s from Kiley Rorich, Mia Hebinck, and Jessica Hutchinson, leading to a record-shattering event total of 49.750. The Pioneers were also able to overcome their beam jitters last week, and now that they know what they’re capable of on that event, watch out for bigger scores!

2024 has been a good year for Iowa State so far. After five weeks of competition the Cyclones are ranked 22nd in the country, but last week they showed a bit of weakness on the beam. After being forced to count an 8.975 from Madelyn Manternach, Iowa State had its lowest total score of the season at a 195.550. But if the beam lineup can hit to its full potential, the Cyclones should be back to their usual scores in the 196 range. Keep your eye on reigning Big 12 newcomer of the week Noelle Adams. She scored a 9.900 on both beam and floor last week, and she has the potential to go even higher.
