For the first time as a member of the Big Ten conference, No. 11 UCLA will make the cross-country trip to University Park, Maryland, for a dual against the No. 23 Terrapins.
Last weekend, UCLA had an impressive second meet in its 2025 season, scoring a 197.550 and winning the third session of the Collegiate Quad. Its first weekend out, the Bruins struggled on bars, but they improved their score by more than a point this time around with a 49.375, highlighted by a big 9.925 from Frida Esparza on the event. Most notably, UCLA for the past few seasons has struggled with consistency on beam, but it showed out on Saturday scoring a huge 49.475 on the event. Going into this weekend, UCLA will be looking to replicate and build on this momentum it looks to be having early in the season.
This will be the home opener for Maryland, who began its season last weekend at the Lone Star Challenge, coming in third out of five with a 195.400. The Terps’ lowest event total of the day came on vault, where they had to count three 9.6s. The team will be looking to improve this event. The highest event total of the night for Maryland came on floor with a 49.100, highlighted by a big 9.9 from Alexa Rothenbuescher.
