Liberty WNBA Championship parade 2024 time, route and how to watch New York’s championship celebration

For the first time in over a decade, a New York sports team will take to the city’s streets and celebrate a championship.

And, that team is also the first to be made up entirely of women.

The Liberty won its first WNBA title Sunday night in Brooklyn, defeating the Minnesota Lynx in a Game 5 overtime win to cap off what will be remembered as one of the best finals series in the history of the league.

The 67-62 comeback victory at Barclay’s Center went down in front of a star-studded crowd featuring courtside regulars Spike Lee, Aubrey Plaza — who has become a viral videoboard sensation in her recent game appearances — Sue Bird, Megan Rapinoe and more.

Following the final whistle that sealed the Liberty’s first title since it became one of the league’s original eight 1997 franchises, New York Mayor Eric Adams basically declared a week-long holiday in the city, where “City Hall and other city buildings will be lit up seafoam” Monday night in the team’s honor.
