Lexi Thompson sits just outside the cutline at even par and is expected to miss the cut, which is projected at 1 under, after the second round at the Shriners Children’s Open on Friday. Here’s what you need to know:
- Thompson, who shot a 69, missed a 6-foot birdie putt on her last hole that would have matched the lowest round by a woman in PGA Tour history. Michelle Wie West shot a 68 in both the 2004 and 2006 Sony Open. Thompson joined Wie West as the only other woman to ever shoot a round in the 60s on the PGA Tour.
- Thompson was vying to become the second woman to ever make a PGA Tour cut. Babe Didrikson Zaharias made two cuts in three tournament starts on the PGA Tour in 1945, becoming the first and only woman to make the cut in a regular PGA Tour event.
- Thompson finished her first round at a 2-over-par 73 on Friday morning, which left her in a tie for 94th. The top 65 and ties make the cut at this event.
