Evaluating Thompson’s round
When Thompson resumes her first round Friday morning she’ll do so knowing she can achieve her goal of making the 36-hole cut. It was a very credible performance in the first round — Thompson had three birdies and rallied after a front-nine 37 to register a birdie and six pars so far on the back nine. She is driving the ball well — her top drives are more than 300 yards — and gaining strokes approaching the green.
