Georgia’s Kirby Smart had his much-needed redemption from the 41-34 week 5 loss versus Alabama when he humbled Texas in a 15-30 game on Saturday. Now he can have a good laugh and put his humor to good use too.
While planning on smothering Texas’s offense last week, Georgia defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann and his wife Lauren welcomed their third baby. Schumann took to his social media on Wednesday night to announce the birth of their baby boy, Warner.
When asked about it in a presser in the week before the Texas game, Smart had a hilarious but hearty reaction to it. “I think, first thing as a coach, you don’t plan to have a baby in season, so that’s the first mistake he made was that,” coach Kirby Smart said chuckling after practice Tuesday. “You’ve got to get your priorities in order when you do that. It’s also his third,” the Georgia head coach added to tease Schumann more, earning a laugh from the reporters too.
Jokes aside, Smart was appreciative of Schumann and his wife for their efforts. “Lauren is an incredible coaches wife,” Smart said. “She does a tremendous job supporting him and his players, and she’s a wonderful mother and a great wife.
