Kim Mulkey has never been known for being reserved or quiet, especially in the face of defeat.
So, after LSU fell to UCLA in the Elite Eight on Sunday, the head coach’s postgame press conference was ripe for confrontation.
One reporter didn’t read the room. Jayden Smith of KLSU Sports opened his question by pointing out it’s the second straight year that Mulkey’s team has been eliminated in the Elite Eight.
Mulkey asked, “Is that terrible or is that good?” to which Smith quickly replied: “Terrible.”
At that point, you could see in Mulkey’s eyes that the bear had been poked.
“How many Final Fours did you play in?” Mulkey retorted.
Smith’s response? “None.”

Mulkey, eyebrows raised, finished: “So it’s probably pretty good, huh?”
