Keira Walsh has returned to training ahead of England’s World Cup last-16 match with Nigeria.
Midfielder Walsh, 26, suffered a knee injury during England’s 1-0 group-stage victory over Denmark sparking fears her tournament may be over.
However, a subsequent scan confirmed she had not damaged her ACL and she participated in the session on Sunday ahead of Monday’s match in Brisbane.
It remains to be seen whether she will be fit to feature at all at Suncorp Stadium. Manager Sarina Wiegman will address the media later today.
Last week Wiegman refused to say whether Walsh would return or not.
“We said that it’s not an ACL, I can’t give you any more information,” Wiegman said. “We are only focusing on the game tomorrow. After that we will continue.
“We have a strong enough team, every game we want to be at our best. We know she’s not available. We have a group of 23 so now we have a group of 22. We have our solutions – and we’ll show that.”
