Katie Stengel wants to win with Gotham FC – Equalizer Soccer

Just 56 minutes into Katie Stengel’s return to the National Women’s Soccer League, it felt almost as if she had never left. Her second-half goal on her NJ/NY Gotham FC debut secured a 2-1 win over the Portland Thorns, lifting the team even further in its playoff push.

Stengel’s dream debut came just days after Gotham FC’s internationals left for the 2023 FIFA World Cup, alleviating the concerns of fans who feared the loss of Lynn Williams may hamper the team’s goal-scoring during the international window. Since joining Gotham on loan from Liverpool, Stengel has continued to be an impact player for Gotham, and just two months later, Stengel and Gotham made it official with a permanent deal through 2025.
